Needle felted landscape, snowy owl on fence.IMPORTANT: Please note that registration in this workshop is subject to the OVWSG COVID-19 Policy.

Description: There are many ways to felt but have you tried a more painterly approach to felting pictures? Nature can be an awesome inspiration, so let’s get you inspired to make a landscape picture with needle felting. We will start with pre-felt as our background. We will review a bit of design and composition, a bit about lighting and contrast and ways to transfer your image (photo reference) to your background. We will explore blending; by hand, by the use of small dog brushes (used like carders) and optical blending. To apply what you have learned you will create a small landscape using the needle felting technique of painting with wool.

Prerequisite: None

Students should bring: Small sharp scissors (for embroidery or other needle work). An I-pad with camera or similar device would be helpful but not essential. If you have small scraps of coloured wool or other types of fibre you would like to try please bring a selection. IMPORTANT NOTE: no garlic or shellfish as the instructor is very allergic.

Materials fee: $25 for felting needles and enough materials to complete one picture
