Excellent for control of soil erosion on embankments, allow plenty of room for this clumping cool-season grass to sprawl with its underground rhizomes. In late spring, straw-colored seed heads rise 8-12÷ above the stunning metallic blue foliage.

Leymus Blue Dune makes an excellent, drought-tolerant, taller ground cover. Prefers dry, sunny locations. Cooler autumn weather results in foliage blushed with yellow and rose tones.

Leymus General Information

Leymus is a cool-season ornamental grass, effective for controlling soil erosion. Prefers dry, sunny locations. Allow plenty of room to spread. Blue Lyme Grass will also self-sow, making it a good problem solver for bank stabilization. Not appropriate for a border or specimen planting.

"Does not like a wet site. If needed, cut back after blooming (seedheads) to encourage a flush of bright, fresh autumn growth. Old foliage may be sheared,even to the ground in late fall or early spring."
