Ever since “The Golden Bachelor” was announced, fans (and critics) have been wondering if the female contestants would be well, age appropriate, for the show’s senior citizen star. Or, would executives cast women of a different generation to date 72-year-old leading man, Gerry Turner?

Now, that question has been answered, and these ladies are indeed fabulously mature, showing that age is nothing but a number.

Love knows no limits, and “The Golden Bachelor” will showcase love stories for the golden years in life — something that is rarely seen in Hollywood, a notoriously ageist town.

ABC has revealed the cast for its latest spinoff, and the women of “The Golden Bachelor” — who range from 60 to 75 years young — certainly are golden.

Many of the women are retired, divorced and have grown children and grandchildren. Among the cast is a fitness instructor; a former Chicago Honey Bear NFL cheerleader; a wedding officiant; a few educators; a therapist; a dental hygienist; and a woman who calls herself a “pro-aging coach and midlife speaker.” Fans of the franchise may recognize Patty, who is the mother of Matt James, who starred on “The Bachelor” Season 25.

Turner, the star of “The Golden Bachelor” is a widower with two granddaughters and two daughters. He married his high school sweetheart and had a wonderful life together for 43 years, but in 2017, she suddenly fell ill. Six years after her death, Turner is now ready to find love again — albeit, on reality TV.

When speaking to Variety, Turner said he didn’t have a say in casting, but admitted that he did give producers a “general range of age” for the women he’d be dating. “I think my answer was this,” Turner told Variety. “I think I said 60 to 70, but feel free to blur the lines.”

Asked if he truly believes it is possible to find love on television, Turner said he is hopeful. “At first, I thought, there’s no way. I was really skeptical. But as I’ve thought about it and I’ve seen the process evolve and so forth, I really do think it’s possible. So we’ll see.”

Here, meet the women of “The Golden Bachelor” cast. The series will kick off Sept. 28 on ABC.
