Microsoft Outlook Express 6.x - Mail Setup

This guide will take you through your Mail Setup with step-by-step instructions. If you are still struggling to get your setup working, please contact the SMTP Support Team for help.

These instructions assume your email account has already been set up and is collecting email correctly. 

Only change the items specified - you should not need to change either your email address, POP3/IMAP server, POP3/IMAP username/password. 

These instructions are only for Microsoft Outlook Express 6.x 

1. Open Outlook Express 6.x
2. Under Tools menu  select Accounts.


3. Go to  the Mail tab.

4.  Click on the email account you would like to modify - this will cause it to become highlighted.

5. After email account is selected,  click on  the Properties button.

6.  Go to Servers Tab. 

7. Under Servers tab type in your SMTP.com server  under Outgoing mail server (SMTP).

8. Сheck  the box next to My server requires authentication and click on the Settings button.

9.  Select Log on using and enter your SMTP.com sender username and password  under Account Name and Password fields. 

10. Make sure Remember password option  is checked and  click the OK button

11. Go the Advanced tab.

12. Under Server Port Numbers change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) port number to 2525 (or 25, 2082). 

13.  Click  OK and then  Close  button.


14. To apply the setting, please, close your Outlook Express 6.x and reload the application.

15. Check you are online then test to ensure you can send mail correctly.
