Decoupage Candle Holders

Materials

Clear Glass Candle Holder or Jar

Tissue Paper in an array of colors

Decoupage Glue

Paintbrush

Silver/Gold Leaf or Aluminum foil

Tea light

 Time to Complete

Approximately 45 minutes

  1. Choose your jar or votive candle holder and the color of tissue paper. Recycled mason jars, spaghetti sauce, or glass mustard jars work great.

 

  1. Cut shapes out of your tissue paper in the desired color.

  1. Using the paintbrush paint the decoupage glue on the outer surface and lay tissue paper on wet surface. Paint over surface until tissue paper adheres to votive.
  1. To embellish with metal effect you can cut out shapes in the aluminum foil or break up silver leaf by tapping it with a wet paintbrush and painting it to the outside of the votive candle holder.
  1. To finish, paint a layer of decoupage glue over the outer surface and let dry according to the directions on the decoupage glue.
  2. Place tea light in jar or votive and light for a whimsical candle holder.
